As part of the project ‘Pilgrimage and the Anthropocene’, we will be undertaking two walks of pilgrimage routes – one in the UK and one in Japan – tto understand the experience of pilgrimage for people of all times and faiths.
We will be inviting members of the public to join us for these. As well making the journeys, we will also be holding workshops at the termini of the routes as well as hosting invited lectures from experts along the way to explain more about relevant themes including church art and architecture, archaeology, ecology, and infrastructure for the pilgrims.

Attendees are expected to bring their own food and drink, but there will be some light refreshments provided at some of the churches.
Accessibility is largely quite good on the route, but please note that there are sections that are off road and surfaces may be uneven and muddy. Please ensure you have adequate footwear and clothing appropriate for the weather. Many sections of the walk are on roads so please be aware of traffic in these areas. Toilets will be available in most of the churches.
