About this objectCasket made of four ivory panels carved with seven episodes from the life of Jesus, showing his crucifixion and resurrection as described in the Gospels of the New Testament. The casket, which originally had a lid and base (both now lost) was possibly originally used as a reliquary. The scenes depicted are: the judgement of Pontius Pilate; the denial of Peter; the suicide of Judas; the crucifixion of Jesus; the two Marys at the sepulchre; and the incredulity of Thomas.
